Sheung Wan Civic Centre|CAPO 40 Anniversary Concert
Description
Folk songs were the music of choice for most Hong Kong youths in the 1970s. With its fresh style, simple structure, and themes often related to growth, life, and society, it was easy for enthusiasts to pick up a guitar and start strumming. In the days before the internet and smartphones, folk songs were especially popular among the younger generation.
Entering the 1980s and 1990s, the urban folk and band trend in Hong Kong also produced a significant number of songs with non-love themes.
It was against this backdrop that CAPO, a folk-rock band, was formed. The members were middle school classmates or close friends, united by their passion for folk music. This shared interest created a strong connection and understanding in their song selection and musical creation, indirectly influencing their personal growth, positive values, and outlook on society.
Four decades of friendship and shared interests have flowed by like a gentle stream, and it is rare to still have this half-a-lifetime of camaraderie with undiminished musical passion. We hope to share the music we love and our creations with everyone at our 40th-anniversary concert, spending a relaxed and happy evening together.
