East Kowloon Cultural Centre|Installation "The Tides of Time"
Description
Artist Wong Chi-yung’s The Tides of Time is a scenographic installation that explores the fundamental nature of time. Inspired by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls, the artist draws on personal experiences of loss and life’s cyclical rhythms. Using the imagery of tides, Wong poetically alludes to the dialectical relationship between nature’s eternal rhythm and the fleeting impermanence of human life. Within the installation, thousands of fine threads are woven into a complex network, symbolising that all things have no clear beginning or end. Through a highly poetic and immersive spatial design, the work invites viewers on a dream-like artistic journey to contemplate: in the current of human experience, how do we reflect on time, memory, and the subtle
