Wanchai Hong Kong Arts Centre | Every Brilliant Thing

Description
The story unfolds from the 'List of Brilliant Things' that the protagonist started writing when she was seven years old. It accompanies her and her depressed mother as they rediscover curiosity and hope in life. As the protagonist grows up, the list expands, and the plot delicately depicts the challenges of mental health, encouraging the audience to cherish the small yet genuine happiness in ordinary days.
The uniqueness of this play lies in the fact that the audience is not merely a spectator but a character in the play. Through improvisational lines and mysterious tasks, the audience collaborates with the actors, enjoying immersive role-playing. The actors and the audience, like friends, share relatable life stories in a casual and friendly tone in the open theater space, candidly discussing urban emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, and suicide, making heavy topics feel real and less lonely.
A Solo Performance Beloved Internationally
Since its premiere in 2013, 'Every Brilliant Thing' has been nominated for the British Drama Desk Award and created a buzz at the Edinburgh Festival. It has been performed in 80 regions, including the United States, France, Spain, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan. It is a beloved solo performance worldwide, and London's renowned theater hub, West End, will host over 100 performances again starting August this year, making it a highly popular show.
