[ET Net News Agency, 14 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$162.67 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$18.05 billion, or 11.1% of the
market's turnover. There were 799 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and TENCENT (00700)
saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.95 billion and HK$1.24 billion, or
10.8% and 6.88% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
9.24% and 13.74% of respective stock's turnover.
MEITUAN-W (03690) and XIAOMI-W (01810) registered HK$784.45 million and HK$721.48
million of short sales, accounting for 4.35% and 4% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 22.02% and 23.61% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$8.4, or 5.25%, to HK$168.3. TENCENT ended up HK$10.5, or 1.67%, to
HK$638. MEITUAN-W fell HK$3.1, or 2.96% to HK$101.8. XIAOMI-W jumped HK$0.2, or 0.53%, to
HK$38.18.
