[ET Net News Agency, 12 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$168.38 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$20.61 billion, or 12.24% of the
market's turnover. There were 778 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and BABA-W (09988)
saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.37 billion and HK$1.3 billion, or
6.64% and 6.31% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
14.47% and 9.01% of respective stock's turnover.
XIAOMI-W (01810) and CSOP HS TECH (03033) registered HK$1.16 billion and HK$789.62
million of short sales, accounting for 5.64% and 3.83% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 31.04% and 22.56% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$14, or 2.29%, to HK$625. BABA-W ended up HK$7.8, or 5.32%, to
HK$154.3. XIAOMI-W rose HK$0.22, or 0.58% to HK$38.04. CSOP HS TECH jumped HK$0.125, or
2.25%, to HK$5.69.
