[ET Net News Agency, 6 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$162.68 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$21.44 billion, or 13.18% of the
market's turnover. There were 777 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.39 billion and HK$1.63
billion, or 11.15% and 7.62% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 42.05% and 18.78% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and PING AN (02318) registered HK$1.39 billion and HK$1.35 billion
of short sales, accounting for 6.51% and 6.29% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 17.29% and 31.92% of respective stock's
turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed up HK$1.64, or 1.75%, to HK$95.3. BABA-W ended up HK$0.2, or 0.13%, to
HK$153. TRACKER FUND rose HK$0.54, or 2.04% to HK$27.06. PING AN jumped HK$3.5, or 5.1%,
to HK$72.1.
