[ET Net News Agency, 1 September 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$234.99 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$27.66 billion, or 11.77% of the
market's turnover. There were 729 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and MEITUAN-W
(03690) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$4.9 billion and HK$1.95
billion, or 17.73% and 7.06% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 12.77% and 20.92% of respective stock's turnover.
BYD COMPANY (01211) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$1.66 billion and HK$875.11 million
of short sales, accounting for 6.01% and 3.16% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 20.86% and 17.55% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$20, or 17.29%, to HK$135.7. MEITUAN-W ended flat, to HK$102.7. BYD
COMPANY fell HK$7.8, or 6.82% to HK$106.6. TENCENT jumped HK$7.5, or 1.26%, to HK$604.
